Trustee Stella Duffy awarded OBE

by |

We are thrilled to offer our congratulations to 2012 Writer in Residence and Trustee, Stella Duffy, who has been awarded an OBE for Services to the Arts in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List! It is always a pleasure to work with Stella and we can think of few people more deserving of this award.

This accolade is just the latest step in a long-ranging and multifaceted career. Having published her first novel, Calendar Girl, in 1994, Stella has been writing for more than 20 years. To date she has written 14 novels, 10 plays and over 50 short stories and has received much acclaim for her writing, including being named Stonewall Writer of the Year in 2008 and 2010. She is also the founder and co-director of Fun Palaces, a locally-led campaign aimed at promoting greater access to arts and sciences, and a dedicated campaigner against library closures (we definitely approve of this).

We are proud and honoured to count Stella as part of the GladLib family.
