The Reading Rooms Team: Writing Gladstone – the letters of an age | GLADFEST 2023

Friday 8th September
2.30pm to 3.30pm - The Reading Rooms Team: Writing Gladstone – the Letters of an Age

Tickets can no longer be purchased via our website. The remaining in-person tickets can be bought from our Reception and will be available at our on-site box office on September 8th and 9th.

In 2018 the Gladstone's Library team launched an exciting digitisation project. Kindly supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, a dedicated team of staff and volunteers have worked to locate, assess, rehouse, check, catalogue and scan several thousand items. The result is a digital archive that's accessible from anywhere in the world, offering one of the most complete portraits of William Ewart Gladstone's written life. Come and join staff from the Reading Room team as they talk through the project and share some of their marvellous finds.

Please note that tickets for this event are e-tickets. Book online and have your ticket emailed directly to you.

You now have the option to save your tickets in your Gladstone Bag! For more information see here. All livestreamed events are recorded and made available to Gladstone Bag holders for 14 days after upload (please note, this may take time as these must be individually edited and manually uploaded). Videos then appear in our archive which is permanently accessible to Friends of the Library

A print and collect service is available to those without access to email facilities for a small charge to cover our admin costs. Call 01244 532350 or email [email protected] for more information. Printed tickets will be available to collect from Reception before the event.

Please note, tickets cannot be refunded or used for another event if ticketholders are unable to attend. All ticket purchases support us to care for the Library building and the collections it holds. As a charity, Gladstone's Library receives no government funding, so all purchases, Gift Aid and donations, are deeply appreciated.

As part of an accessible events initiative here at the Library, all our non-residential events will have one free place available for people on limited incomes. Please email [email protected] for details.
