Islamic Faith and Culture

Dialogue between all faiths.

The Islamic Faith & Culture project, based in the House of Wisdom reading room at Gladstone's Library, was set up in 2010 to address one of the key social conundrums of contemporary society - the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims. The collection promotes understanding of the contributions of Islam as a faith and Muslims as rich and vital communities in the modern world by providing a new space for mutual learning and engagement.

The collection is found in the Islamic reading room, which we have named the 'House of Wisdom' after one of the greatest and most influential libraries of the Islamic 'Golden Age'. Covering a range of theological and social science areas of Islamic Studies, this is a valuable resource for both scholars in the field and for those wishing to find out more about Islam and Muslim communities in the modern world.

We also regularly host Islam-themed events and courses.

The reading room and the courses are intended to offer meaningful spaces for dialogue and engagement. We are therefore working closely with Muslim communities in North Wales to make sure the resource is locally relevant and helps to promote inter-community understanding and cohesion in the area. Please explore some of the resources on the website to find out more.
