Special Collections

Gladstone’s Library was founded with the gift of a distinctive collection.

William Gladstone used a wheelbarrow to cart all 32,000 of his books from his castle to his Library. Ever since, we have been proud to receive the custodianship of several distinctive collections.

Click on each title in the list below to learn more. Each distinctive collection can be searched on MainCAT, while the Gladstone Foundation Collection – the one that started it all – can be searched on GladCAT. If a special collection has its own additional finding aid, it will be available for download.
