Main Collections
From the Library’s inception, it has followed Gladstone’s own collecting. Since 2010 Gladstone’s Library has focused on the three main Gladstonian pillars: theology and religion; history and politics; literature and literary culture.
The Library’s acquisition policy can be found here.
The main collection exists in two parts. The Gladstone Foundation Collection holds Gladstone’s original library. It is held in the History Room and texts are identified by their green spine labels and the classification prefix ‘WEG’.
The larger part of the collection is the Main Collection. This is found in the Theology Room, Annex Corridor and Annex, with a sub-collection in the House of Wisdom. All titles can be browsed on the Library’s online catalogue.
