We know it’s October and we know that Halloween has not yet passed, but we’re getting organised nice and early for Christmas this year to ensure that you can be too!
From today, bookings are open for Christmas Lunch in our homely Food For Thought café. Christmas Lunch is served from 1st December until we close on 20th December.
Choose two (£14.50) or three courses (£17) from the mouth-watering menu including: mushroom pate, roast turkey or ham with festive pigs in blankets, salmon Florentine and Christmas pudding or sherry trifle. Both options come with freshly brewed coffee and a Christmas treat!
Throughout December (Monday - Friday, 3pm - 4pm), a special Christmas Afternoon Tea is also on offer, including the usual selection of sandwiches and cakes, as well as mince pies and a glass of Prosecco (£12).
Bookings must be made in advance for Christmas Lunch and Christmas Afternoon Tea, but they work just like their year-round counterparts - come in, sit down at your reserved table, and relax as we serve up your festive feast!
For something a little lighter at lunchtime, drop in and try a delicious roast turkey, cranberry and stuffing ciabatta (£4.60).
December is one of our bistro’s busiest times, but there’s also a lot going on in the rest of the building. If you’re stopping by to lunch, why not join one of our Glimpses? Before or after lunch (which is served 12noon – 2pm), find out a little more about the Grand Old Man who founded this library and started it all.
As a special treat, we also have our Christmas Craft Fair which takes place throughout the Library on 6th December. There will be no booking available for Christmas Lunch on this day but you can drop in to sample the menu and there will be more cake, biscuits, and freshly brewed tea and coffee than you can shake a Christmas candy kane at!
Perhaps even more exciting, we have our Great British Films week! From 14th – 18th December, we’ll be showing a host of our favourite classic British films free for those staying with us. There’s still availability here in December, so it’s an amazing opportunity to stay and relax around a roaring fire with excellent food and good entertainment!
