Exploring Mindfulness

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT

10am - 12 noon

The two hour session, co-ordinated by Avril Robarts, will be divided into four parts:-

1.Discussion

2.Techniques

3.Practice

4.Feedback

Mindfulness is a method of training the mind to be calm, focused, and insightful. This trained mind can then enable people to maintain equilibrium in a troubled or stressful environment. Some people also use this practice as part of their own spiritual path.

This exploration is for anyone interested, whether already practicing mindfulness or not. There is no focus on any particular belief or philosophy, just an exploration of techniques and a sharing of ideas.

At the first session last year, some interest was expressed in other meditation techniques. As Avril has a wide knowledge of meditation in different traditions, and some of the modern research, these can be briefly explored and discussed if appropriate.

Avril has been studying, practicing, and teaching meditation techniques for many years , some of this in a mental health setting. Although she is co-ordinating this session, it is not a ‘course’ so much as a ‘conversation’.

Tickets are priced at £10.

Concessions for unwaged £2.
