Ian Parks

Ian Parks’ first collection of poems was published in 1986 and received a Yorkshire Arts Award. In 1991, he was made a Hawthornden Fellow, spending three months at Hawthornden Castle near Edinburgh. He has held several residencies and has taught creative writing at the universities of Sheffield, Hull, Oxford and Leeds. In 1994, he received a Travelling Fellowship to the United States and, in 1996, was recognised as one of the National Poetry Society’s New Poets. His poems have appeared regularly in a number of publications including The Liberal, Poetry Review, The Observer and The Sunday Times and have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Ian’s latest collection is entitled The Exile’s House. He is currently editing an anthology of contemporary Yorkshire poetry.
