- First steps towards achieving the library were taken in 1898.
- Opened to the public by Earl Spencer in October 1902
- More than 250,000 books, journals and pamphlets on a wide range of subjects but specialising in our core subject areas; Theology and Victorian Studies.
- The heart of the Library is Gladstone's own collection of over 32,000 items.
- The Library houses most of Gladstone's non-political correspondence, speeches and papers.

- Accommodation: 26 bedrooms, majority ensuite
- Coffee Shop – Food for Thought has recently been refurbished and can seat up to 60 people.
- In 2010 nearly 10,000 people visited Gladstone’s Library.
